Ping/lag spikes Talktalk router

Just had Tt installed and for some reason on PC every minute or 2 I get a huge ping spike and then it settles, this is through Wifi, wired seems okay.

I've tried 2 Wifi cards on 2g and 5g and it's the same.

Is there some setting I need to change on the router or something?

I never had this issue with the VM Superhub 2ac.

I presume it's only on PC as I can't or don't know a way to check it on Xbox.

how far from the router and how many walls? wireless on their latest router seems weak.

Fixed it now. Had to change the wireless setting from 802.11 a/b/g to just 802.11 b/g and the spikes have stopped.

The spikes were happening every 60 secs as though it was trying to scan or something.
