Ping not a valid Win32 application

I want to use the command prompt to ping a few websites but it won't let me.
When I open it up and type 'ping www.google.co.uk' or any website it just says 'ping.com is not a valid win32 application'.

I am using Vista 32bit on two pc's and have the same problem on both.
Anyone know what i'm doing wrong.

Thanks but i'm still getting the same error.

Just looked in the system32 folder and both ping.exe and tracert.exe are there.

If I type ping.exe/tracert.exe and the website into the command prompt it works fine.
