Ping spikes

I noticed it from playing overwatch. Every hour I tend to get a ping spike which goes to around 300ms from 15ms and causes the game to freeze for a second.

Im not really sure what I'm doing but ive pinged my ip adress and its about 7ms and occasionally goes to 150ms.

Could it be the router since its just a isp provided one

I tried pinging the ip adress wired and it was all 1ms. Then tried wireless and mostly it was around 4ms but there was spikes about 100ms.

Is this normal

It could be caused by another device on your network saturating the connection.

What other devices do you have running on your network? What speed is your broadband connection?

A router with "smart queue management" QoS would stop ping spikes if it's being caused by other network devices saturating the connection.

Usually just my phone doing nothing.
Speed is 80/20

I would check your PC, it's probably anti-virus software or something that is kicking in and disrupting it.
