pingtest.net packet loss test will not run on my router?

Can anyone help me get this working please?

DG834GT, the packet loss test doesn't work, presumably because the router is blocking incoming connections.



I can rule out any problem with my computer such as Java not working properly, because the packet loss test does complete if I use a different router.

I have tried:

Adding a new firewall rule where I allow ALL incoming connections on UDP/TCP on ports 1-65535.

In WAN setup, I ticked both of these and applied:

Disable Port Scan and DOS Protection

Respond to Ping on Internet WAN Port


Still no go. What else can I do? :confused:
 
that test doesnt seem to want to run on my router either DG834GT.
i forward the ports

weird thing is

when i forward the ports TCP works perfectly on every port i open thats becuse at default outgoing is open to all ports on this router.

but incoming isnt its all blocked at default and even when i set a service then set a firewall rule for that service, dam port is still blocked and unopened

its doing my freakin head in and i think thats the reason why pingtest packet loss test doesnt work.

wait a minute you got the same router LOL go figure :/ if you find out what to do let me know cause god if i know.

I had this problem a while back in Windsor, eventually it started working. Not sure what the problem was, maybe try a different browser?

I tried it in Firefox and IE8. I doubt it makes any difference. It is obviously the router blocking the test, not anything within Windows.

Look in your router config.

WAN Setup at the side
"Disable SIP ALG" try checking the box/unchecking it
and also
"Enable ICMP packets support " Try turning that one.

I had same issue with my router (DG384PN) not doing the packet loss bit when I first connected it up. These two options fixed my problem.

It's in there on mine, but I'm using also using the DGTeam firmware.

Edit:
It seems it's linked to:
"Respond to Ping on Internet WAN Port" and
"Respond to Ping on LAN Port"

So if you can enable/disable those then I guess thats not an issue.

Description from my router:
"Enable ICMP packets support

This option enables ICMP packet support at kernel level: if disabled, the router will ignore any icmp (ping) packet incoming from any interface (WAN or LAN) and the 2 following options, strictly dependend, will be disabled too. "

works for me now :D
when i enabled : Disable SIP ALG , it works :D

now is it a security risk to keep disable sip alg ticked ?

EDIT : woohoo ;) this disable sip alg seems to have fixed my port issues aswell when i create a service then a firewall rule and check the port both incoming and outgoing are open now, when i tested the port with port checker :D

Yes rebooting made it work - although possibly if I had waited long enough it might have worked also, I'll try that too later.

I wonder if it is safe to leave it off all the time? edit - yes a quick google suggests it is safe.
