Anyone have any idea why this is now crashing all 3 of my browsers when I try to run it? using the standard pingtest website, gets up to the point of sending packets and freezes.

Probably a Java issue. Perhaps reinstall the latest version

Are you running Java release 6 update 27? I just tried Pintest.net and it wants me to update

Try a different server instead of letting it choose.
