Anyone use this program, just hold of a copy, as I hope its better than NERO 6, cannot get on with Nero at all, Never seems to burn DVD's always some error.

Anyhow, I want to put some old camcorder films of the family onto dvd, so want to use this program as well as putting some photos that i take on my digy camera onto a dvd to take to other family members etc.

Will this program do that and does it takes ages to burn a disk ? as in, im sure i remember reading somewhere, if your going to burn stuff, do it when your about to go to bed as it can take hours ?

Maybe some one will shed some light for me

thanks

Pinnacle 10 will do the things you require, but as always with a bit of jiggery-pokery.

For example, you mention that you have old camcorder footage - is the video on DV ie digital, or is it on an analogue format? I ask because you will need to interface the camcorder or deck to the PC.

Given that you can import footage from your source, it is likely to be in AVI form that will occupy arond 13Gb per hour. This is readily accepted by Pinnacle Studio and can be edited to incorporate still images at various points to create a movie that can be saved out as MPEG-2 for editing elsewhere or used to create a DVD that Studio can create for you.

Not sure where you learned about burning taking hours, as a full DVD should only as long as the movie is long, even at 1X.

But... if you use a lot of scene transitions and other effects then the actual rendering to MPEG-2 can take a fair while depending on the power of your machine.

no its anologue, loads of old tapes i want to put onto dvd, as its just so awkward to set everything up if i want to watch them. Tried burning about 15 photos today with one track of music (mp3) and it was still "pinnacle studio 10" "is rendering etc etc blah blah" 1 hour later ? is this normal ?

Also i noticed lots of different types of file formats for the output when you finally burn.

What do i want ? I want to play it on my normal DVD player downstairs in the lounge and also the same at other family members homes

Pinnacle is not the most reliable piece of software (I work with it day in, day out). It will often stall on rendering.

Make sure that it is actually rendering rather than sitting there doing nothing...

Well there was a bar always moving whilst it was rendering, my Page file usage was high whilst rendering, Ill try again, what other software would you recomend then.

All i want to do is 2 things

burn lots of Photos to disk to play on home DVD machine.

Transfer my collection of anologue video camera tapes onto computer and then onto DVD.

Also, as I asked before, What output file format do i want to use for when i finally get round to burning, i noticed pinnacle had a few options, all i want is for it to play in a normal DVD player.

Thanks for all your replies thus far
