Pins missing from PCI slot. Is this normal?

Hi all,

Just looking at my EVGA X58 3X Classified motherboard (from ebay). The first three pins (nearest the back plate) on the top side of the PCI slot are missing. There does appear to be damage there, but no signs at all of any pins having been present. Will it work without them; by any chance did it never have them?

Cheers

My camera is very poor close up and I don't think it would show it. Basically the plastic part of the slot is all there, but inside the plastic where the copper pins are, the first three spots on the top row (i.e. the top left corner as the motherboard is normally orientated) have no pins in them at all. Looking deep in the slot with a torch I also can't see any sign of them e.g. bent up inside the slot.

Are we talking about a white PCI slot or a pci-e slot? How does it compare to other slots of the same type on the board?
