Hi Folks

In in the market for a plasma TV and over the weekend I saw a Pioneer pdp436sxe and was quite impressed. I have a few queries

First one: I have noticed that there are variations of the model can someone help or post a link as to the differences?

pdp436SXE
pdp436RXE
pdp436XDE
pdp436FDE

Second Query:

I intend to connect this to my Media Center PC, I have noticed that there is no VGA connector. Can I connect via other methods an get good results e.g via HDMI?

Cheers

Right if memory serves me well

pdp436xde has external media box, digital + analogue tuner, no speakers
2 x hdmi, 1 x vga
pdp436fde has external media box, analogue tuner, no speakers
2 x hdmi, 1 x vga
pdp436sxe all connections built into panel, digital + analogue tuner, speakers built in, 1 x hdmi
pdp436rxe all connections built into panel, analogue tuner, speakers built in
1 x hdmi

Thats just a few of the differences, then there's this new model
Pioneer PDP-427XD 42" HD Ready Plasma TV
pdp427xd.jpg

speakers built in, 2 x hdmi, 1 x pc, digital tuner

Myself and a few others on these forums have got the 436xde stunning display

I have the 436 FDE. The media receiver only has the single HDMI port.

If you are looking at spending money this price range i think you are going to struggle to get anything better than the Pioneer.

hi there, i have the exact tv that your looking at, its very good,

im going to be connecting my pc via HDMI. using a DVI - HDMI cable

Cheers Jason.

Hi Folks

Thank you for all of you comments so far, these have been really useful :-)

Do you think it is worth the extra cash for the PDP-427XD?

Are gaming consoles OK on plasma, I am thinking of the new Nintendo WII and Xbox 360.

I couldn't tell you about the new model to be honest but gaming on my Pioneer with a 360 is a joy, putting aside picture quality just the size is awesome !!
