Has anyone got one? Halfords have got it half price for today only, seems like a good buy for £150, but would like to hear opinions on it before splashing out.

I'll be using it with a Nexus 4, so if anyone's used it with Android, any input would be much appreciated. ;)

It's a good concept but it falls over a little with Android I feel, as there are only a handful of compatible apps. About the only one I would deem useful is 'Maps'.

Add to that the fact it's pretty much completely featureless if you don't have a phone attached... no SD, no USB, no CD. It functions purely as a radio.

I wasn't particularly impressed with the responsiveness of the screen when I tried one either.

A great concept but I think it could have been better if it worked more like MirrorLink does, where it doesn't rely on specific app compatibility.

edit - oh and fairly sure it's normally only £200 anyway, it was probably £300 last January but it's not half the actual recent selling price.

Thank you. The specs show it has a rear USB input, but on closer inspection, it would appear to be a fixed Iphone cable instead, no good to me, as I store all my music on a USB pen, good job you pointed that out! :D

I always wondered if these work with normal iPods (I keep a classic 160gb in the car) but could never find a definitive answer

I doubt it, as the entire point of the unit is the ability to display certain apps on the headunit to essentially give it it's functionality.

Without that it's nothing more than a radio realy.

It might play songs from a regular iPod but if that's all you wanted there are loads of other units out there that can do that but also have a variety of other features too.

edit - oh and jsut noticed, if you're using sat nav via your phone, you can't listen to the radio, you have to stream radio via your phone if you want it.

Halfords seem to have good deals on stereos recently.

I got a Pioneer DEH-X6500DAB for £99.99 which is cheaper than anywhere online.

The annoying thing is, even on the Pioneer website it is listed as having rear usb. It doesn't so I have an usb drive hanging out the stereo constantly which is a bit crap!

Oh and can anyone recommend a DAB aerial? Do those splitter cables work to turn your existing aerial to a DAB one? Are the windscreen stick on ones useless?

I'm clueless about it, but figure I might as well get DAB working as the stereo features it!
