So, instead of selling Fuel they have teamed up with retailers to generate comission for themselves?

Dear Members

There has been little significant progress on the card in the last few weeks - hence nothing to report in our last update - but we are now in talks with another potential partner. We won't give out another date until we are confident that it can be met but, hopefully, that will be soon. Believe me; we want this card up and running just as much as you do.

On a more positive note, a couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that we had what looked like a really good offer on one of the latest SatNav units and we were evaluating it. As you know, we get loads of offers and most of them are not relevant to motorists or just not terribly exciting. This one looked different so, for the first time ever, we are going to stick our neck out and say "We think this one is worth looking at, folks."

The discount is for PipelineCard members only so we can't put it on the website - we have to pass on the information directly to you in this way.

The offer is:

20% off the very latest Navman 530 - just launched last month. Instead of £299, you can get one for £239 - a saving of £60.00. Our members also get free delivery and free European maps on CD. Check it out (we already have) you won't get that price anywhere else. We felt we had to tell you about it. Orders should be placed directly with Navman at

I will admit, I have used Navman's kit before - and I think this is their best unit yet. A couple of weeks ago some thieving oik broke my car window and stole my Navman 550 (which uses the same mapping) and I have been trying out the 530. I don't think I will go back to the 550 as this unit is faster, brighter, easier to use and - even without the discount - quite a bit cheaper.

I mostly turn the voice instructions off so I want a bright clear display with lots of road information. This display is very nice indeed. The new GPS engine is also powerful enough to get a fix indoors (in most buildings). Very few car units can do that. For a second opinion, there is an independent review of the Navman 530 at http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=1526

To find out more or place an order, go directly to this page on the Navman site. Please note: the offer only applies during the month of June.

As we have said before, Pipeline is first and foremost about cheaper fuel. We don't go out looking for special offers on other products but when something exceptional like this comes our way, it is hard to resist. Even if you don't want or need a SatNav unit, we hope you will understand our reasons for wanting to give you the opportunity.

Don't worry, we are not going to pass on your personal details to anyone else, and you are not going to get a flood of offers from us either. Remember, this has been the first such offer in six months.

That's all for now; as always your feedback is welcome

Do you think that this Pipeline thing would actually work? Is the idea a sound one? Will Fuel companies buy into it?
Appreciate your opinions as I think I should give it a go and do it properly.

They need a big database of people to send spam to, to get the petrol companies to but into this.

That's the only way its going to work, they're going to need firm gauranteed evidence that a lot of people will buy their fuel.

Personally I'm not interested in it. I have enough plastic in my wallet to jimmy open a bank vault.

It has the potential to work. But of course he's going to try and make a few quid for himself, he's put a load of work into it, he'll want something back.

I'm not holding my breath for massive discounts, but I'm not one of those going "OMGLOOKATHISNAME!!!!1", because, tbh, worse thing that can happen, I get a few e-mails trying to sell me stuff, they can go with the rest. The potential gain is worth the risk.

It's all a big scam just to get your e-mail address onto a Spam list!!
Look at his surname - it has got to be a scam!!

*D'oh - I was beaten at least once to the two usual replies to these e-mail updates*

This wont work, there are no profit margins to actually eat into. You can only bring the cost of something down if the supplier has anything to give.

But fleet buyers get a discount now...

To me, its worth a shot. Whats a little more spam in my mailbox? Its already overflowing and Gmail is quite good at spotting most of it.

As pointed out, countries on the continent have this kind of theing, no reason why it cant work here.

If they do sell your details or pass them on, I feel it will be to reputable companies as they have too much press coverage to do anything dodgy. If they are legit, they always have an unsubscribe option.
