My brother has got an MGZR 120 to which he fitted a Pipercross air filter. He's now reverted back to the standard filter and doesn't want the Pipercross anymore.

Firstly, would this fit my MGF? (mine's the non VVC so is it the same engine?)
Secondly, is it likely to gain/lose power? (does the K series benefit from better induction?)
Lastly, is it going to be stupidly loud? (the Elise is stupidly loud so I'd prefer to keep noise to a minimum in the MGF)

Is it a replacement filter or an open induction kit?

I'd be wary if the latter if the engine bay is cramped without the proper ducting etc.

It's a cone filter. No idea what the engine bay of the MGF even looks like yet, just got back from skiing so haven't even moved it since I got it, will have a look tomorrow I guess.

is there anything special in the mgf airbox that night funnel or affect the speed of the air?

the cone should not lose you power if you get plent of air to it (hard on a mid engine car most of the time).

with my pipercross, i found some tube that was as large diameter wise as the whole cone. i put the cone in the hose, jubilee clipped it, it is now a sealed CAI.

Anyone know how loud this is gonna be (preferably someone with experience of one)

Is it droney on motorways or is it only loud when you floor it?

Cheers :)

Well, I've just insured the MGF and told them that it's got a Pipercross so I guess it's going on.

Why can't I just leave anything standard?
