I thought Pipex were just "traffic managing" for those who took the ****? :p

I'm currently on Solo 2000 (2Mbps) and paying £33.99, if I do nothing will I be moved to Pipex Go (2Mbps) and have my monthly charge reduced to £23.99?

nope you'll stay on 2mb solo paying full whack. usually you have to pay to downgrade but i think you may be be able to negotiate yourself a deal by threatening to leave. at least some people have done that..... :p

Thanks. So if I do nothing I won't be automatically upgraded to 8Mbps? About 18 months ago my service went from 1 to 2Mbps with no extra charge or intervention from myself.

i would imagine you will be upgraded for free. it's just a question of when. were you tied to a 12 month extension when they upgraded you to 2mb? i'm pretty sure that'll happen with 8mb.....

from the pipex site....

What if I don’t like my current service or any of these new services and want to leave PIPEX?

You are free to leave PIPEX if you wish, but depending on your product and how long you have been with PIPEX there may be a cost associated with cancelling. Some PIPEX residential services do not have a contract period, but if you wish to leave within 12 months of joining there are early termination fees that apply: this is £58.75 including VAT and an additional £20 inc Vat if you took a free modem. From 1st February 2006 all PIPEX residential services have a 12 month contract, this means that if you would like to leave within 12 months of joining you will have to pay any outstanding balances. PIPEX Home Office and PIPEX Business services have a 3 month contract, and PIPEX Managed Business services have a 12 month contract. If you decide to leave within the relevant contract period you will have to pay any outstanding balances.

Not that I can remember... I'm not keen to lock myself into another 12 month contract.

Does anyone know if your on 2mbit home office you can get MAX ?

Or do i have to resign up to another package?

Thanks.

Well, I'm now with Nildram :D

moving from a 2MB Port Throttled Pipex account (that disconnected me every few minutes despite me not running bittorrent or limewire) at £33.99 per month to a

2MB Non Port Throttled Nildram Account at £25.99, I've only been with them a day but I've noticed a difference. I have a 50GB bandwidth limit during peak hrs, off peak I can use as much as I want and I can monitor my usage inside Nildram unlike Pipex.

Good riddance to Pipex. :)

Just put in my request for my MAC off Pipex, it's gonna cost me 58.75 to leave, but I'm not prepared to stay for another 3mths with them for my contract to end.

The managed Central hardware is crap.

That was probably me.

If it was me you're referring to, I think you need to go back and read my post again...

You mean you have to use the (ludicrously expensive) CBC/UBC Centrals as opposed to Standard Charging?

the managed hardware for 34mb centrals (i believe you have to have managed for 34mb) is ok (7204VXR i'm told). the bigger managed hardare configs are pretty crap though. we designed our own for a reason.

i'll dutifully go back and read that again

the CBC/UBC centrals are a factor, BT also seem to stipulate what level of connection you must have from their network to your centrals and it's not cheap (as i understand it as informed by our tech director)
