Hi all,

Bit of a rant, so bear with me.

Had Pipex now for about four years. Always been faultless... had about 30 minutes of total downtime that i'm aware of, the rest has always been the fault of BT who provide the line. They've never contacted me about excessive downloading (don't do too much, average about 30gb including upstream a month)

About 10 monthes ago we moved our telephone services over to Pipex aswell saving us about £15 a month. So we now had internet and phone via Pipex then paid £10 rental to BT.

My mum pays the bill and she was onto me about 7 monthes that Pipex were only taking the £14.99 out of her account (turns out this is just the price of the ADSL..) They should be taking £27.99. I rang up and spent 45 minutes on the phone sorting it out, and the guy assured me all would be sorted the following bill.

Now i've been in and out of the country and completly forgot to ask my mum if they'd sorted it the following bill... and she's just told me they're still taking the £14.99! I've been on hold twice tonight but havn't actually managed to get through to a human being .. i've got to go out now so it'll have to be tommorow. (Accounts in my name, just uses my mothers card)

Where do we stand? This is stupid really... I presume we're going to end up with paying a lump sum for the difference which has ****** me off a bit tbh. I could understand if it was the first time, but to have already rang up and supposedly sorted it.. taking the mick a bit, no?

Thanks,

Yep... their billing system can throw the odd wobbly. See the Pipex forum on ADSGUIDE ( http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ ) for the rather large number of complaints about billing (and pretty much everything else these days!).

Billing and their traffic shaping are the two main reasons that I've just moved to NewNet.

The other common ****-up, if you pay monthly by Credit Card, is that they continue to take money for months after you leave them! Something that I'm worried about, hence why I've just sent then a registered mail letter, Emailed and phoned their billing Dept.

Good luck sorting it out. I think you might need it.

If its there fault I dont think you should have to pay the extra, especially if you tried ringing up and was told it would all be sorted and they still havent. Its not like you have tried to be sly and not do anything about it.

Just put away the extra cash into a savings account each month.

If they want the payment it causes her no hardship and if they don't then she gets a bonus :)

Odds are when it finally gets sorted you'll be able to get the total reduced on a goodwill basis but not putting the money aside then later complaining that there is a lump sum to pay wouldn't be wise.

I think that they cannot try to get more than 6 months worth of back payments as a legal maximum.

However I would say that if I was you I would not be willing to pay anything more than £14.99 as you have contacted them in the past regarding the incorrect billing and they have not corrected aso it is there fault and you have done the honest thing and told them I owe you more money it is not your fault they did not correct it.

I would also put £78(6x£13) into a savings account just incase.
