Pipex

Hi

£33.99 is the correct price ... most ISP's are missleading as they dont usually advertise prices including vat .. Pipex are not and have never been a cheap ISP but they have been good in the past ... personally i migrated away recently but that was the price i was paying for 2Mb

Have pipex rebranded their products? What's all this start/go/max stuff. Apparently all products show as 2mb?

Well, there was an uplift program a while back whereby all customers on a number of ISPs were lifted up to 2Mbps at the exchange, then limits put in place on the ISP end. The thinking being that the ISPs would then be able to upgrade/downgrade customers themselves without having to go through BT.

Absolutely no idea what all these new PIPEX pricing tiers are though. Are those introductory offers or are PIPEX really offering uncapped 2048/256Kbps for £23.99/month?

Hi

i think you will find if you look closely most the offers are for limited time ... first 3 months or so then price goes to normal level ... as for others rebranding and stuff Pipex have been on a spending spree buying other ISP's including Nildram & Freedom2Surf so i expect its all to do with merging customers onto the same system and leveling the speeds ... might have been just me but they have not been so great since then and forums on adslguide seem to mirror this with unhappy customers .. anyway hope you get trouble free surfing

Looking at the PIPEX Residential homepage, there don't appear to be any of the catches they had previously. There's a £1 charge if you pay by credit card, but there's no mention of any introductory offers. Seems to me like they've finally gotten in line with the competition and plan on offering uncapped 2048/256Kbps for £23.99/month :)

Might want to look at this thread on the ADSLGuide forums as well

Hi

Yep they have change their prices for new customers but existing customers are charged the original but will get upgraded to the max their line will take by looks of it ... notice its min 12 month contract too so offers for new customers ... still glad i migrated as they arent telling truth when they say no limits as they are using traffic shaping & in my experience the service has degraded over recent months
