I sea..........that this is out next week. I was looking forward to it to start with but I never managed to get myself round to getting into the beta and now have heard mixed comments about what the release is expected to be like.

Anyone else considering getting it?

I was considering it till I got into the beta. To be honest its one of the most boring games I've played in a long while. Ship combat is sleep inducing. But maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, maybe someone on here who has played it extensively will be able to give you a more rounded opinion. I thought it was a pile of old balls.

Was very disappointed. Wont be buying it. The ship combat was ok but the avatar combat was clunky, childish and just didnt feel right. It could be one of those that really improves in a year or two but as it stands its not worth buying.

im enjoying it now.

Hated the beta at first, but been in the pre boarding party for a week now and liking it.

The avatar combat is still a bit clunky, but its all about the ship combat and the player content and such.

This game is not for you if you like fast paced action and such, ship combat can take quite some time. If you liked sea dogs and such you will love this.

It is sea dogs but online. :D

Had a fair blast on it during beta and I enjoyed it but I think mainly because I was in a good society that was organised for ship building and roaming around in packs for PvP. Doubt I would have liked it if I was going around solo getting ganked and unable to participate in the economy to any significant degree.

Won't be getting it though. Sailing upwind across the world map to go and get something is super boring and I found the avatar combat a bit naff. Also having your ship sunk is quite harsh and just made me want to quit after it happened. And then there's the instances, lots of private little wars going on that you can't see nor affect.

My overall opinion: good game for organised groups as having friends around to play with will overcome the game's foibles.

You sure can, a lot of player content can be put in the game, sails and flag designs.

These you can sell in game so to speak or share with your guild.

I'm in the pre-boarding party at the moment. Bored out of my skull to be honest and always find my self logging out after 15-20mins.

At the moment port contention is disabled until full launch on the 22nd and the lvl is locked at 21 until then so that may be why i'm so bored as I've lvl capped 3 chars so far :P

If your after a small scale Eve on water then you might like this. If you want a long term PvE game it isnt. Leveling to 50 will take no time at all and then there is nothing to do except sail around taking enemy ports ad nauseam and craft or run goods between ports.
