Hey guys,

Are there any browser plugins, mail alerts or some other form of getting notified for Pistonheads events when they get put up on the calendar?

I check most days, then guaranteed the one day I forget an event gets posted and gets filled up. Prime example being the latest Silverstone one, happens near enough every time! Driving me nuts. I missed the Pro Drive one too which is just down the road

I figured a few people from the boards attend them so might know of something

Thanks

Yeah...there is. Here is the calender for this year but some events are TBC. Just pop the release dates in your calender as this is when the event sign up page goes live.

Me and a couple of mates are going to the one on 5th March at Silverstone.

BKPiyUhh

I used to have alerts set up, but the calendar is much easier...although last year they ended up being a day out from those displayed.

Anyone going to the silverstone SS? Definitely my favourite :)

Sounds like it didn't get off to a great start. Did you see the Honda Civic crash into the concrete barrier? Hope the driver is ok.

Crashed into the concrete barrier right where I was standing so bit of a shock. I was looking away at the time talking to a mate so lucky I didn't get a load of glass/plastic bits in my face.

Driver walked away, passenger (assuming it was his girlfriend) needed the ambulance but they both got out ok. Civic looked a write off to me.

It is amazing how many cars bin it there, the most prolific area at Silverstone. Last 3 track days I have done there, 2 of them have seen cars smashed to bits in the wall.

A few Sunday Services ago a very nice Porsche totalled there. It is a tricky corner with nowhere to go if it goes wrong. I hope they all had insurance!

It's the long right hander leading onto the old straight that catches people out, especially 911's as it unsettles the backend and also people get it wrong, drift out too wide and try to correct or worse, lift off when the right thing to do is let it drift, hence the now tarmac run off, but people try to pull it back, lose it and go into the wall which is somewhat solid.

Yes, somewhat solid...

I was passenger in a GT3RS a couple of years back.
We had a guy in another Porsche loose it exactly as described above in front of us, we managed not to get caught up in his accident.
That corner/pit wall caught a few people out that day.

Are there any similar events to this other than goodwood? I'd like to take my 4 year old as he loves super cars but can't find anything suitable. I'll take him to brands for the BTCC but I think he would like to walk around the different cars.

There are a good few Sunday services as per the calendar above. Being free and a friendly chatty crowd is a huge plus in my book. Silverstone is special due to how close you can get to the track action.
