Had a few googles and cant find any drivers, cant even find much information about the printer on the official site.

I've checked out driverguide.com and couldnt find it. If it's not on there I normally cut my loses.

I tried doing a search to see if there was an alternative compatible driver for the 1640 and found the below post, off a different forum, for the Pitney Bowes 1630. You may want to see if it works for your 1640:

I posted a while back asking about how to get a driver for the Pitney Bowes 1630. I found nothing at Pitney Bowes. BUT.....I did find the answer and wanted to post it here in case anyone else has a Pitney Bowes printer and needs a driver.

You dont need a driver!! I dont know about other printers than the 1630, but in this case I accidentally solved the problem by printing a set up page which is generated internaly by the printer. I stated clearly in the text on this page that this printer simulated a HP Laserjet 4.

So I set up the Linux printer driver for HP LJ4....and guess what, it works!!!

So the printer is capable of using the old Hewlett Packard Page Control Language HP PCL
