Hi guys,

I recently purchased a new sealed Pixel 2 phone.

I am coming from years and years of Sony compact phones so maybe my battery expectations were a little high.

Can I ask, does anyone know if it's normal that a single HDR photo takes 1% every time?

Also, a whatsapp video call of 20 mins took 20% ?

Thanks for any help!

I have a pixel 2, have had it maybe 30 months ish, battery life is still pretty good, certainly doesn't chew through battery like you describe above. I don't know exactly what a 20 minute whatsapp video would take , but I know it wouldn't be 20%, I would be forever charging my phone and it last the day normally.

Thanks a lot mate. I'm thinking even though it was a new and sealed phone maybe the lithium battery has been fully discharged for so long that it's damaged.

I've done battery capacity tests using bug reports and uploading to battery historian website, it reports the capacity as 2650mah, which is about right but the rate at which it discharges is just odd.

With your pixel 2, how much percentage of battery does 1 or 2 HDR photos take?

It's odd because things like watching a youtube video it lasts forever, or bluetooth streaming youtube music takes like 1% every 10 minutes, it's really good like that.

Thanks!
