Pixel 2 vs 4A?

Hi.

My Pixel 2 which has been/is a great phone for me, the battery is dying now and also the charging port is slightly damaged (not to look at, just have to connect at a specific angle now lol).

I have seen the 4A is due out. Is there much difference between the 2? The stats look similar and I don't see much info on the camera when looking just MP rating etc.

Can you get new batteries / repairs on these phones...?

Is there anything else out there similar to the Pixel 4A price point that I should consider?

Confused really, any advise appreciated.

I believe the 4a is likely to be a side grade to your Pixel 2, though with a more pleasing appearance and longer support. The OnePlus Nord at £379 is a decent phone, with a larger screen, 90hz and inferior camera. What are your priorities? I'm sure there's a Realme/Xiaomi/Poco with better specs than both for less money, but I must admit I don't pay lots of attention at the lower-mid range.

As for repairs on the Pixel, I can't help you with that question.

Really the camera is top priority for me.

Modern phones seem way powerful enough for my needs. I don't really game on them for instance.

I looked at exactly this, I have a Pixel 2, still going strong but a few things are starting to bug me (speaker for calls has gone a bit quiet for one). The SoC in the 4a is actually pretty close in performance to the in the Pixel 2. I found a direct comparison between the 2 phones somewhere (can't find it again) and the Pixel 4a generally edged out on top. The 4a has more RAM, bigger battery and nearly twice the charging rate. If you are basically wanting a slightly faster Pixel 2 with another 3 years of Google updates and support and way better battery I think the 4a is a great choice. Besides, the camera on the Pixel phones is too good to risk losing by choosing a different brand phone for me, friends have Samsungs , Oneplus etc none as good and consistent as my pixel (imo). The only reason I haven't purchase a 4a myself is I am just waiting until the 28th when Google announces its other 2 phones Pixel 5 and 4a5G or what ever they will call them, then I'll make my decision.
