I know a few on here work in game development.

Does anyone have a good link or book recommendation on making computer game art. Im thinking mainly pixel old school stuff. if not retro then simple stuff, no 3d or intensive graphics please

There's a book i've just found in my collection from O'Reilly "Making Isometric Social Real-Time Games with HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript"

Covers making games with sprites and maps and could be of interest for you. I'll check the rest of my collection for you too :D

I know you said nothing 3D or too intensive, but look at modding for the original half-life engine. Simple things like changing (skinning) existing models can teach you a great deal about how these models are created and you can really play around. Lots of resources online, i used to post here a lot and I know my brother in law still does: http://twhl.info/
