No its not possible to unlock, difference will probably not be all that much anyway, but i wouldn't advise spending £152 on that card, worthless now those, you would be much better off getting a next gen 8800 , will totally decimate the old pro, has much better image quality, and has the added bonus of Dx10, so you would be much better off getting a one of those, 320mb 8800 GTS is only about £40 more than that pro, Nvidia is the only way to go at the moment due to ATi not having any new cards out, all their cards are all worthless now till they get their next gen r600's out in June sometime. :)

Except for people that can't afford an 8800

Then you just save up till you can as its absolutely pointless buying an ATi card now, they are totally worthless, waste of money spending £150 on an old worthless ATi card when you can get a much faster/better next gen 8800 for around £40 more, so you may as well wait till you can afford one, or wait till the Nvidia mid range next gen cards come, 8600's etc... as they'll be around the £100-£50 mark, just no sense at all in buying ATi's old tech now, theres only one graphics card manufacturer at this time, and thats Nvidia as ATi are out of it, Nvidia is the only option till ATi get their R600's out in June. :)

they are totally worthless

Thanks for the heads up - will throw away my x1900 immediately - it worked beautifully in all my games yesterday but you've shown me the error of my ways so I'll rip it out right away

what if u want a £100 pound card becuase spending £180 on a card for some people is silly to them then ati are the best bet the 1950pro is a very good card

It should be clear to anyone with even a little sense that he doesn't mean that they are entirely worthles, his statement is only relevant to people looking to buy new cards. It's almost the equivalent of buying an AM2 system when you could get much more from Core 2 Duo.

Thats right if buying new Nvidia is the only way to go, £150 on an ATi card is absolutey pointless at this moment. :)

If you only have £100 odd then as i said if you can wait till the Nvidia midrange cards come out, 8600's etc..., then get one of those as they will be around those prices, and they aint far off release now, supposed to be coming April which is only a few weeks away now as were in March already.

You dont need to throw away your x1900 as it still cuts through everything fine, no need for you to to upgrade yet, but even if you did want to upgrade now, what ATi card would you get, exactly you would have to get a Nvidia one as ATi do not have any cards out for you to upgrade to, they have zero cards out, you already have their top card (performance wise), so your only option is get a Nvidia card now, or wait till they get their next gen R600's out in June as at this moment theres nowhere for you to go with ATi, but that doesn't matter seen as you already have an x1900, that will easily last till R600's, and after. :)

Yep no point flaming the guy for talking sense, you would be silly to buy DX9 Ati card when you consider Nvidia 8800's offer dx10 support. Only £40 diff not £400
