On my LCD monitor I noticed some colour aberration with Vista in 3D, which was not present in 2D XP.

I took a close up pic of the core monitor in the sidebar of Vista, which shows colour bleed/RGB not focused properly which I've only noticed in Vista, never similar stuff in 2D XP, so I dont think viewing Windows in 3D is as good as 2D.
Maybe its the graphics card? Geforce using 1:1 pixel output.
Or have I just got too much time on my hands lol.
I do remember XP having a sharper desktop.
Can you force Vista to display a 2D desktop? (its still 3D with classic)
I also took a software screenshot & resized to match, of the same area (shown below main shot) which demonstrates I really do have too much time to waste...

DVI 1:1 pixel, so no better an input.

If you look at the software shot, the 'off' colours match the photograph, so it dont look like 3D can properly resolve RGB to the pixel? Noticeable on text elsewhere too.

I know its nitpicking, but interesting.

erm...funny you should mention this, because ive just been staring at my sony 40w200 and wondering why the reds were misaligned. its by far the worst with red text on a blue background.

how does this look to you?

now, i know its not the lead (im using hdmi) and i know its not the tv (its fine with the ps3 and any other sources). it only happens with the pc. strangely enough my monitor as the second display doesnt do this. red is definately shifted 1 or 2 pixels to the left:confused:

Cool picture :)

Why not fire up MS Paint and draw some one pixel wide lines? Who knows what it's doing to fonts these days.

unlike on XP, in Vista cleartype is turned on my default.

try turning it off and see if that solves your problem.

when i tried vista a while ago i didn't notice any lack of sharpness with regards to text.
