As title. I'm playing through this game again and I must admit that this is the only game to grip me enough to make me play it so often and enjoy it the same as the first. I dunno wether its the open gameplay, weapons, map size, garphics or whatever, but I can safley say this is me fave first person shooter so far.

Edit: Still can't do that volcano level near the end where those gihugeous rocket mutants are waiting outside the door, lol. :p

i keep threatening to play this all the way through. i played a lot of it at one time and stopped playing when it got a bit silly with too many monsters.

since getting my 1900xt i was hoping to get the HDR working, but no joy at the moment

Played through it again recently myself on getting a new gfx card. Not been a fps I've enjoyed more since its release. Tropical island setting and weird mutant creatures is just a winning combination for me.

It is a great game! The human enemies are a bit mediocre, but the mutants, crikey they keep you on your toes!

There's a little trick that i used when i played through on maximum difficulty which may help you out.

**SPOILER WARNING**

In the little ammunition storage room (the last one before you get to the big doors) there is a chair. Get you pistol out and shoot the chair to the big door, open the door and place the chair in the line of the door so that it can't close ;) It leaves it open for you to get more ammunition.

If you want to do it the non-hacky kind of way then there is something else you can do. Collect all your ammo from the storage room and go over to the big doors. Open the first one and stay close enough so that it doesn't close on you. Using the sub with the square eye sight (can't remember the name of it) aim in and shoot the pesky little trigens with guns. You may want to use Cry-Vision/binoculars to see where they are. After killing them, move around so that you attract the attention of the mahoosive ones. Once one of them sees you then the rest will follow. Now get out the chain gun and, moving around as much as possible, shoot each one in the head as they come to you. Use this method first before using the chair then you'll feel better about yourself when you beat them ;)

That should get you past that bit, but i found the next step even harder :p You have to persevere and finish it so you can play it again, it's such an awesome game.

FarCry is great. There are other fps games that I think are better, but none that have the replay value of FarCry - it's one I always feel like going back to.

As for the Volcano level, my method was to tuck right into the side of the door you come out of and the big monsters can't hit you even tho they're standing right in front of you - then you can just keep ducking out and shoot them in the head a few times. You will usually take a bit of damage, but not enough to be a problem.

I haven't taken to this game.

Bought it last xmas, played up until the ship (not very far) and didn't like it in the slightest.

Probably because at the same time i recieved COD:2 free with my new GFX card, and that wipes the floor with anything offered byt farcry for me.

This is what I did too! After you open the big door, you'll see a small space immediately to your right where you can hide (stay crouched or go prone if you can). From here you'll hear the big rocket mutants walk up, but they'll get stuck and will just stand there. Now pull out the LMG, zoom in and edge very slowly to the left untill you can just about see their heads, now fire away to your hearts content! Direct fire to the head with the LMG should take them down pretty quickly before they have any chance to fire back.

Never seem to play the single player, however i'm always playing online (mostly euro servers) Its so addictive, and nothing comes even close to it. Add me to XFire if ya wanna game some time: Foehammer2003 :D

Farcry F-T-W!

Love running around tropical islands killing mercs with my silenced SMG.

"hey what was that" a merc says as he walks next to me as im in the bush.... stab nife in the back... Awsome game..

Also that volcano level thingy --- Spolier!

I run out of the room to the right - theres a Rock on the cliff face just stand behind it - the rocket dudes come close to it and just put the head around it and look at you... just cap there head then stick you head out and lure the next dude etc - well easy.

PC FPS wise Farcry is the best shooter since Duke 3D in my opinion (Console wise I'm thinking of Goldeneye not Halo btw lol).

Farcry blows Doom 3, Half Life 2 out of the water. It would be close to a perfect game if only the last two levels were a bit better.

It's definitely my favourite fps. Lost count of the amount of times i've been through it (approx 15). Not keen on the last level either but the rest are great. Sure i'll be playing through it again before Crysis is released.

I still haven't played it properly, bought it ages ago. New PC in a month or so so I'm waiting till then so I can turn the shiny gfx up :)

I love HL2 except for the fact that it's so scripted and you have to go on certain paths.

I did that section both of those ways too.
This is what spoiled the game for me.
The AI of the mutants were absolutely terrible & spoiled the latter part of the game. The AI of the mercenaries were much better.
Nothing shatters your suspension of disbelief more than standing at the edge of the river before the waterfall in about 3 inches of water & looking at a big mutant guerilla just standing there motionless, shouting threatening phrases at you, but doing nothing.

If they had done without the mutants it would have been a far better game.
