PL set for VAR from 2019/20

Right decision imo. If our referees were good enough, I might think differently, but they’re not, and too many mistakes are made.

As an Arsenal fan, we would have suffered from it recently, like with Mane’s goal, but I still think it’s the right thing to do.

The level of refereeing seems to be getting worse in the PL (maybe I'm imagining that) so its probably a good thing. I just hope that VAR doesn't drop the actual quality of the top refs because they know they can review things. Rugby pretty much always looks at VAR after a try incase something happened that should cause it to be cancelled out.

i don't think it will affect the top refs, but i think refs with any sense will use it for anything and everything they can otherwise they'll get battered for not using it as its available.

big one for me is whether they bother doing anything about all the hugging in the penalty area at free kicks and corners.

Finally. Should have come in years ago.

The only concern I have is around time added on for stoppages, it is bad enough at the moment with far too little time added on, the refs will really need to be on top of this.

So much money involved nowadays in football that this has to happen. A team being relegated from the premier league by "the goal that never was" would lose millions from tv rights, prize money etc.

Have to draw a line somewhere though. If you want by a stopclock for eg youd have 15 minutes on each half.

I've long advocated two 30min halves with stopclock but in terms of "drawing the line" to me it is ludicrous when you have in some cases less time added on for the entire half than was caused by a single injury. Welbeck injury the other day, was over 5mins injury (I looked at the clock) and yet only 5mins time added on in first half.
Realistically with VAR I could definitely see some games lasting 2hrs.
