Hi guys,

I've seen a table I like in Ikea but it is too big. If I measure up some MDF sizes I need will places like B&Q cut the wood for me if I buy it from them?

It'll be two square places and then some thing long pieces which will hold the top and bottom together. The difficult bit will be the drawer where I will want indents cut in for the rail.

Thanks

The big B&Q's tend to offer these services. But I doubt they'd do indents, I imagine they'll only do basic shapes.

Otherwise any independent wood merchants should do it for you also.

Cheers guys. Separate question, if I am looking to build a coffee table and don't want screws in the upwards facing sheet (so a clean top), am I best using wood glue and dowels?

Either glue and dowels or biscuit joints.

If it's a nice thick top then personally I'd router an appropriate recess into it, then glue (and if req/dowel) into that, as it will look slick and be extremely strong.

B&Q Will, so will Homebase...

Don't know if it's still free or not... Get it cut a few mm more and sand the edges, they have a tendency to scorch the edges
