Place your bets, Red or Green

ok, the latest for cayman is 1536 shaders. Not quite sure where i got 2400 from...

That basically renders my whole theory invalid :/

Oh well, ive made my bet.

2400SP would be a monster card given that 1536SP should put the 6970 around 3% faster than a GTX580 (depending on final clockspeed on the 6970)... but also pushing atleast 400watt.

On the note of power - I'll assume when the 6990 is released it will need a nuclear power station to run it?

On a seperate note, anyone have an idea about the TDP for the 6970 and even more impossible to answer - if anyone knows what's expected for the 6990?

I think the overall battle will come down to bang per buck and my bet is on Red :)

i think the red will win, they will win on price... but only just win on performance (6970v580)
im gonna wait it out till the end of december to get some good feedback from users first, i would leave it untill the new year but VAT goes up on 1st jan :(

6970 is <300watt... the final amount depends on the final clockspeed which afaik still isn't finalised.

I would say 200-250 watt for the 5870 replacement and 200-300 watt for the 6990 depending on what pair of chips ATI are going to use.
