Placement of cpu temp sensor,,,???

Just got an Akassa Fan Controller Pro, and was curious about where specifically to put the cpu sensor... I would have assumed between the heatsink and the heatspreader of the chip (Opty 146), accross the centre...

Is this not a good idea??

No, it's not a good idea. I have one fixed to the underside of the cpu cooler just next to where it contacts the heatspreader, but you want as close to perfect contact between the heatspreader and the heatsink.

ok.. so on the outside edge of the heatspreader then... although I would have thought that thermal paste would have evened the surfaces out, and filled any gaps...
