Will be relocating to Hatfield end of next month and need a place to live. I haven't got a clue of the area. Where's good? In terms of low crime with pleasant surrounds?

My budget is about £800 a month for rent.

Might help a bit more if you suggest what you want for that price. £800 can go a long way for a decent 2 bed flat or not so well if you need a 3/4 bed house.

Live in nearby St Albans you cant go wrong that way. Hatfield is not exactly pleasent.

My comment was going to be Don't live in Hatfield.

Hatfield is pretty easy to get to from most directions, the A1M is usually pretty jammed at the normal rush hours.

Hitchin isn't a bad place, Stevenage is a dump, St Albans is ok, Welwyn Garden City is a nice place.

I spent 2 years living in Hatfield... Please don't let my suffering be in vain!

Both Hertford and St Albans are really nice towns... good pub culture and you can get a good place in either on your budget.

Welwyn is nice too... though don't know it as well.

Good point, Hertford is a jolly good night out. Plenty of watering holes!

Only really looking for a 1 bed flat and reading what people have been saying I plan to live outside of Hatfield ;)

Everyone knows all the best people live in Enfield...

Will you be driving into Hatfield for work? if you want public transport then anywhere on the welwyn branch of the trains will be a good choice, welwyn garden city is fairly nice as well, as long as you live on the good side, it's pretty much split in half between nasty/pleasant.

£800 ex bills for a 1 bed flat is good money. You'll get a good pad for that. I'm paying £700 for a 2 bed in WG. It takes me 10mins to drive from here to Hatfield even with dropping my partner off at the centre of WG in the morning.
