I have an LCD 19" television/monitor and the speaker quality is horrible. I'm thinking about getting some inexpensive PC speakers to use in lieu of the TV speakers, but am very limited on space. I have a couple inches to spare directly behind the TV, but I'm not sure if speakers will have any effect on the display. I figure if they are proper PC speakers like the Altec Lansing BXR1120 Audio System they should be shielded and won't have a problem.

Has anyone else placed speakers very close to the rear of their monitors like this? Or is there another clever way to get better quality sound from the TV?

I was hoping that was the case. I ended up clearing out around the sides of the TV instead and getting a cute little 2.1 system. It sounds terrific and fits in well with the 19". :)

Sound quality on my family room LCD is awful, so got a logitech 2.1 channel setup and now sounds lovely for not a lot of cash. :)
