Hi all

Anyone seen this monitor just looked at a review on Toms Hardware...looks great and has this new tech -

Although Planar is using an LG AH-IPS panel in the PXL2790MW, the way it’s integrated with the front protective layer is unique. In most displays, there is a small air gap between this layer and the LCD panel. Planar is bonding them together, eliminating the gap. The result is significantly greater clarity. And this isn't a gimmick; we noticed it as soon as we turned the monitor on. Not only is it exceptionally bright, but the sharpness of even the tiniest text is greater than displays with a typical anti-glare screen coating.

Anyway I thought I would share...cant get it in the UK.....please point out if I'm missing something or your think the new tech is a load of rubbish....

Will post link if I'm allowed to review?

"Brightness ranges from bright to really bright. Even at the minimum setting, the max output is over 170 cd/m2."

Oh dear...

As for clarity: through a quick glance, it doesn't seem like they put that much attention to it, after all, apart from the brief ambiguous paragraph on the introduction and some random notions every once in a while. If it were such a revolutionary solution, I would have liked to read up more of it (I mean in technical terms, not simply reading "it improves clarity"). Or maybe there's not that much more into it. Maybe it's just that, a small assembly improvement.

Hopefully some other source looks more into it...

sounds impressive

" And if you get a chance to see the PXL2790MW in person, you will almost surely want to own one. Its clarity and sharpness are simply unparalleled, and with no tests to back that up, we hope you’ll take our word for it. The display delivers a truly compelling image. We’ve tested a few other screens that are nearly as accurate in color, grayscale, and gamma. But none offer the crisp picture that we enjoyed from Planar's PXL2790MW"

would love to see the cost ! bet its insane

The Planar PXL2790MW is Iiyama Prolite XB2779QS-S with a different stand.

thank any link to confirm this is the same screen?

I see Ocuk are delayed and overdue in getting stock of this screen.

Am surprised not much interest in this thread, would have imagined a 27inch LED TFT which according to Toms hardware review is the most detailed and clearest and highest quality screen going would have got some serious attention !

Perhaps Ocuk can do a review and confirm if this screen knocks the Samsung and viewsonic PLS panels out cold ;)

For £440 the price is better also!

See the post of the person doing PRAD's reviews at http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040297685&postcount=1.

The Iiyama is a great screen, but mine has an important drawback which seems to be quite common: It makes a "dog whistle" sound at any brightness setting under 100%. I am still trying to decide whether I can live with this.

thanks for link and info that is bad news to hear about the dog whistle though....

I've ordered the iiyama, but sadly it's on back order. I've been offered the dell as an alternative but I think I'll stick with this.
