Whats the planes that Australia have on order from the US that have had quite a few problems so far?
They are suposed to replace our fighter jets

Most likely the F-22 Raptors.

KaHn

/edit :- their problems come from making a mach 2.4 unstable aircraft.

LOL F22 = Best development of an aircraft in the entire history of the universe. Not

What would you say in this day and ages, as a combat aircraft is better?

Mach 2.4 is the fastest fighter jet built isnt it?

I heard it was problems with the software in the cockpit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22_Raptor

F-22 raptor is a predom a2a fighter which has the capability of dual roles, mach 2.4 is not the fastest a aircraft as flown.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR-71_Blackbird

is so far the fastest with out including the use of ram/scram jets.

No the problems range from buffeting of the tail to problems with the release mechanism of the cockpit, tbh with the raptor atm it could be anything.

Eurofighter Typhoon owns everything.

Really, so why is it that the EUROfighter is not in full use now in the +6 YRS! ffs the eurofighter was good in 2000 its still decent now but the mig-39 (yes i know that isnt official) is looking better and better by the day and the f-22 isnt far behind that.

I would like to see a comparisson between the new Mig-29OVT (Mig-35) and the F-22 in terms of a dog-fight.

wouldn't we all but in the end this would come down to piloting skills (as with all 5th gen). I think the mig-39 is still abit ahead of the f-22 in speed but the F-22 should have it in manouverability.

I'm not sure, in my eyes I hope the raptor is better, but thats me.

/also for those reading mig-35 = mig-39 just different sources.

I believe the fastest fighter ever produced was one of the old Mig's? Think it might have been a -25 at mach 2.8 or something. The Sr-71 still holds the record of the fastest manned aircraft though.

Yes as I miss pointed in my post, the SR-71 is not a fighter, but is believed to go upto 5+ (read somewhere years ago so can't provide links sorry).

But as with the ram/scram they have to be going around 4+ to become efficient so that puts pretty much everything out of its way then.

How do people not die at Mach ridiculous speeds?
In WW2 people were blacking out in Spit fires, i know they wernt trained much but surly the body cant handle going that fast
Do they have to slow right down to turn? :p

Thats G not mach, at a constant speed you do not feel a net force, take travelling in your car at 70 mph.

If you went from 0 - 70 mph in a milisecond you would die, but as you accelerate gradually you don't, same with jets.

Although with turning and dog fights they are generally done at much slower speeds than max.
