Planescape Torment Re-Release

HAHA, Awsome.
I have the original box version on 4 cds in my had now :D
I tend to break it out every so often and give it a play though, fantastic game.

Morte: One time you awoke obsessed with the idea that *I* was your skull and chased me around the Spire trying to shatter and devour me.
Luckily, you were crushed by a passing cart in the street.

Just picked up from Richard Cobbett’s twitter, it appears that Interplay are re-releasing Planescape Torment. Its release date is listed as the 30th October and the price is a – not-much-change-from-the-nature-of-twenty-quid – 17.99 of your Earth pounds. In fact, it appears to be a whole load of Interplay other material too. It’s a surprise to see a decade-old game released at a mid-range price… but it’s also one that I find hard to argue against. A game that’s still placing high in all-time lists, that’s been unavailable for years, that goes for full-price when it turns up on eBay and hasn’t been superseded in any way. If the gaming equivalent of the Beatle’s price never going down and this means that Dan Gril has no excuse but to finally return Alec’s copy to him. Hand it back, you [git].

Just for some info.

Also, you can't link to that shop here. Best remove it.

ABOUT TIME

When looking for an rpg to play this comes up time and time again, ive just never been able to run it on xp or vista. Finally i might actually be able to play this game :D

Well last time Interplay re-released the games both BG2 and Fallout were broken out of the box as they'd been patched with US patches. I wonder if they will do better this time or just chuck the discs out the door.

Is it being updated for modern systems, or are they pulling a fast one @ 17.99 for a windoze 98 game

If the "dev team" are just going to spend an hour making it work with dosbox, then no thanks :o

And I got £45 for mine this year on Ebay as well ;)

And you very likely would still get that after this remake releases. The Black Isle games have a devoted following, and an original 4 disc big box release, mint and complete is what the collectors are after, not the two disc "combo pack" release and not a "greatest hits" type of release that this DVD is.

This reissue is really nice for those who don't have the original or can't run it for whatever reason, and hopefully will have some updates to the code. That said, I have run the original on XP and Vista with no issues and with the hi-res patch the game looks much better.

It is a unique and quirky game, with what many consider to be the best written storyline and some of the deepest character development in gaming. It is not for those who don't like to read, as there is a LOT of reading, and you miss what makes Planescape different if you just click through it blindly. The game feels like a lot of "developer love" went into creating it, no doubt of that.

Reading this has just got me thinking it will be nearly 10 years since I played the game. How time flies. It is still sat on my shelf as well, one of the few games that I still have that would be that old.
