Hi i just purchased this from the bay full big box version with manual poster e.t.c and paid a fair price for it.
Any how just wondered if any one plays this now ? also would like to here from some ppl who have.

ps not running it on my normal rig but on an old rig with old hard ware e.t.c only new item is 15 inch flat hehe just can not go back to bubble screen.
tried playing old stuff on 22 wide and it's a big no no for me but on the small screen looks just like it did in the day. :)

pps i recommend any one getting an old rig up and running for old stuff tis great no problems with new gfx cards or stuff running to fast e.t.c and the joy of it is people will give you the hardware most of the time for free :D

many thx jay.

You mean Torment? 'tis my favourite game of all time. Think I played it through at least 10 times when first released - the box still occupies pride of place in my gaming bookcase.

Actually i didn't. Played through BG1, BG2, Icewind Dale, NWN, NWN2, but never got round to Planescape. Perhaps i will actually, now you mention it.

If it's anything like the others though it will be awesome.

I saw a utiliy that allowed all those old games to be played at high resolutions and widescreen. The problem is I can't remember where I saw it.

Definitely check it out mate. The only rpg that i've played that comes close is BG2.

Whenever I see Planescape: Torment mentioned in a thread I feel obliged to point out that it is indeed a masterpiece sadly overlooked by many.
My fave game of all time too, and that's with some fierce competition from System Shock 2 and Deus Ex.

All the time while I was playing that game I was completely in awe. Awe that has yet to be reproduced fully although Mass Effect has come close lately.

Imagine an rpg of this type made for current hardware. 1080p, leaves swaying in the wind, smoke out of chimneys. It'd look like a living painting. 3D can bite me.

Loved BG and BG2, but could never really get into PS:T. Maybe it was because I played PS:T after BG2 and I just couldn't cope with the lower resolution - is there a high-res patch out for it? official or unofficial...

Yea same here actually. I suspect all the people recommending it played PS:T before BG2 or even BG.

I played all those games and pst topped the lot, rpgs were never about graphics but in its time graphics were top of the range and most importantly a storyline that will never come around again ;-(

I had a quick look at the mod but "cut and paste" > The mod itself is beta because it isn't compatible with all games, currently. In particular, several versions of BG1 cannot be patched at the current time, and both BG1 and PST crash when entering an area smaller than the current screen. <

put me off.

thx

BG and BG2 were games. PS:T was a story masquerading as a game.

BG, along with IWD and others, actually had some tactical depth, whereas I felt PS:T was much simpler in terms of combat. I spent 90% of the time either moving around or stuck in dialog. Unfortunately, I never finished it either.
