Planetarion

These aren't the 'roids you're looking for

It's years since I last played Planetarion. I eventually came to the conclusion, in spite of the claimed 100's of players, that the game came down to myself, the guy I was attacking and everyone else was played by his brother.

I gave up on planetarion a long time ago, when they tried to make tons of money from it. Although it is free, the last time I checked they give benifits to those who pay, making people who play for free stand little chance.

There are benefits from paying but none of them are necessary to compete. The only real necessity to compete is to be in a decent alliance, not being in an alliance is basically a death sentence. That said I don't really have time during the day any more to check on attacks and such so I can't really play it. It's definitely enjoyable but it will absolutely destroy your sleeping patterns if you play it properly.

May have another bash at this, used to love playing it back in the early days, think I started on round 5 or something? Can't quiet remember, I do however remember registering my planet at Fiorina Fury 161, then getting quiet a few messages saying I shouldn't have that name because the Fury alliance would be a bit unhappy or something heh.

Is this like ogame?
It's similar in the fact it runs in real time and is space based. It's more combat orientated from what I tried of ogame and personally I found it a lot more engaging and polished. The game runs in rounds of usually around 7 weeks and each round has different ship stats so becomes a slightly different game each time.
