Ok, I'm planning an upgrade to Sandy Bridge, but I'd like to confirm a few things with someone if possible.

First of all, I'm looking at 16gb of RAM as I do a lot of audio work with virtual instruments with which the extra RAM will help me greatly, should I still be seeing a possible 4.5/4.6ghz overclock on a 2600k with a Noctua NH-D14 for instance?

Secondly, would my Corsair HX620W be up to the job, even if I decided to stick an overclocked GTX580 in there at a later date?

Lastly, here is my current idea for the build, does this look ok?

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £229.16 (£274.99)
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) £118.32 (£141.98)
2x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £174.98 (£209.98)
Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1156/LGA1155/LGA775/AM2/AM2) £58.32 (£69.98)

Total : £708.34

Hey mate,

I have 16gb of Vengeance (4x4gb) - make sure your ram is 1.5volt capable and overclocking wise this should put your mind at rest ;)

My heatsink isn't as good as yours and thats prime stable now for around 17 hours! Good luck with your build - my hardware is pretty much exactly the same apart from the ram.

Thanks Tommy, that's good to know, having problems finding some good 1.5v RAM that will fit with the Noctua, as unless I move the front fan to the other side, the Vengeance won't fit. Does anyone know if the Noctua will lose much performance if at all moving the front fan to the rear?

Hey,

Gibbo posted that some of the XMS3 stuff they sell will run at very low voltage, this stuff is ideal in height for the coolers that take a little more room!

Sounds good, I'll grab 16gb of that then. Do you know if the Pro is worth it over the stock P8P67? I'll almost definitely not be going with SLi as I'm looking at the KFA2 Anarchy GTX580 with the big 3 slot cooler.

Hey mate,

I think the VRM stuff is better on the pro and deluxe but I'm not 100%. I've looked for the review site I saw it on but can't find it. For the small difference I'd at least get the pro :)

Ok then. I know not all chips/mobo's are equal, but since you seem to be hitting 5ghz on 16gb 24/7 stable with the Pro, then I guess I couldn't go far wrong with it! :) What case you using by the way?
