I'm going to start building my new PC in January and I'm trying to figure out what components I should go with. The PC will primarily be used for gaming and web browsing. I don't intend to upgrade this PC for quite some time as I've tried the 'save money' approach before and find myself having to upgrade or re-build sooner than I'd like. I want something that's high-end, but not Titan X high-end lol :)

I've listed my planned parts so far below. Any advice would be much appreciated. I was thinking of an Nvidia 980 for the GPU or maybe their 980ti. As for RAM and the PSU, I'm lost. I did ask about PSU's in the relevant forum and got some decent advice so I might go with something in the 1200w range because I might decide to go SLI. That all depends on what can fit into my budget, GPU wise.

BUDGET: £800 - £1000 (prefer to stay under £1000 as much as possible)

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Gene Intel Z170
RAM:
GPU:
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
SSD:
PSU:

Only if your looking to add a second card :)

550w is fine, I think you would be pulling 359w under load.

Yeah, its not a pants PSU, its amps on the 12V rail is what you would expect, its just lacking the modular cable feature of a more expensive unit.

Yep, my system which had a 290x overclocked and a 4770k overclocked with several drives and custom water pulled around 400w from the mains under full load.
