Planning a trip to Ely Cathedral..should i wait?

Really want to get a trip to Ely cathedral at some point but i am wondering if i should wait for a while to improve my photography as i am very new

also what would be a good idea to take? apart from
tripod
UWA lens
shutter release.

I dont want to come back with rubbish pics!

good enough for me. I want to go there before it gets dark so i can get the stained glass etc but want to leave when its getting dark as the whole building will be illuminated
