I am planning on upgrading my mainboard, CPU etc. and OS this evening/weekend. I would like your advice on what you think I must do before, during or after this process.

I have already backed up most critical files. Still need to run MozBackup to grab all my FF settings, and will backup my IE ones too. Not sure what else needs to be done. I will be installing Win 7 on a new HDD, so formatting etc. should not be a problem as I will just leave the old HDDs disconnected until its all done.

Hi Random Guy

It’s the right time to consider a couple of tools. Check for component and software compatibility at the Windows 7 Compatibility Center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Also, you can download, install, and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displayLang=en . The advisor will scan your system to check both software and hardware compatibility for Windows 7. Good luck with your project!
