So I'm planning on building my first ever computer and after some advice that I've been given.
I was advised to post here as apparently this is the best place to seek help from!
I'd really appreciate somebody to have a little look through the parts I plan on getting, and let me know if they'll work well together or not. Also if anybody has any other tips they can give I'd much appreciate it!

--------------------------------

Intel Core i7 2600K Sandy Bridge *OEM*

Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler for All Intel/AMD CPU's

Asus P8P67 Rev3 Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard

500GB HN-M500MBB Samsung Spinpoint M8 Hard Drive - HDD

POV Point of View GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB NVIDIA Graphics Card

Corsair CMPSU-600CXv2 Builder Series 600W Power Supply (PSU)

Corsair Memory Vengeance Jet Black 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz CAS 10 XMP Dual Channel Desktop

60GB SSD Corsair Nova Series 2 Solid State Drive

Coolermaster Elite 40 Black Mid Tower Computer Case Front/Rear 120mm fans and Side Window No PSU

Lite On BD-ROM, IHOS104-37, SATA, Black, OEM

--------------------------------

I plan on using the SSD for the operating system and app installs, so I'm assuming 60GB will be more than enough for that?

Thanks a lot!

Good advice!

I've got a 60 SSD in my main machine. I'd say its just about enough but I try not to install any apps onto it

I'll mainly be using it for video editing, animation, rendering, etc.. I won't be using it for gaming much.

My budget is around the £1,200 mark. The total of the above, is about £980, baring in mind that I'll also be spending about £200 on a monitor, keyboard mouse, and Windows 7.

I'd go for that with £1000. Larger SSD to get some more applications on there, Z68 motherboard, 16GB (don't know about the RAM you chose but it was pretty darn expensive), the 6870 should be fine for mild gaming. Overclock the CPU and jobs done.

Bah I forgot the DVD drive + £18 for that give or take a pound.

Thanks, but I was more after slight alterations if necessary to my current specs, rather than a whole new set-up.

8GB RAM won't be enough for the kind of applications I'll be using.

Im with you on that one :p Im considering another 8GB. :/ Thats only for gaming. :D

The PC your on now, you couldn't keep a HDD from that?

I havent specced 8GB though, have I?

Alterations are as I've said. Larger SSD, Z68 mobo and don't waste money on expensive RAM

Nope you've speced 16.

To OP, hes put 2 lots in if you look at the final price :)

Ah my bad. I think using 2x8gb will benefit me more, just in case in the future I want to add even more RAM, then that option will be available to me.

in you first post you've speced a 2.5" laptop hard disk(the spinpoint m8) not a 3.5" decktop hard disk(spinpoint f3). the reason I know is as I've been looking at the 500gb m8 for my playstation 3, was £54 on 'today only' deal last week, thursay it was £60.

the fins on the vengnce will interfer with the cooler, you'll either have to go for low profile(without the fins) of the xm3 or the vengence lp or change the cooler to a closed loop liquid cooler such as the corsair h60/antec kuhler 620.

blueray you'll want the retail not oem

psu antec truepower new modular £15 more expensive but modular.

go for z68 motherboard.

the crucial m4 seems to be the ssd of choice.

Thanks for the advice guys. There are a few different priced Z68's, so which should I get? Can somebody link me to one? It needs to be around the £100 mark, or cheaper if possible.
