Hi Guys,

I'm looking to ditch my current computer (thats far to old) and build a new one. However the is now the right time? I'm looking a a core:-

Q6600 Processor on P35 Chipset
8800 GT Graphics

However should i go for this or....

1) Wait for the the 8800 GTS
2) If I wait for that, also wait for the new Yorkfield Core to Quads in January
3) If i'm waiting for this, wait until the X48 chipset it released.

I know there's always something around the corner that one could wait for, but want to see if any of these are worth waiting for?

Cheers for input.

The 8800GTS is certainly worth waiting for, in fact pre-orders are available if you search around for a bit.

The yorkfield performs better than current C2Q clock-for-clock so that might be worth waiting for but if your rig desperately needs an upgrade you shouldn't miss out much by going for the Q6600 now. Besides all current P35/X38 mobos will have support for yorkfield anyway so you can always go for that later.

The P35/X38 will take next gen chips fine so the X48 is probably not worth waiting for. Besides you can also get P35 mobo that takes both DDR2 and DDR3.

Quick question.

Is there a release date for the Yorkfield Cores? I have heard Jan 08 and Q108. Wondered if there was something more specific
