Is it possible to get a plasma TV installed so when it's activated it raises up from a concrete floor?

Say this is a typical living room,

there is no place to put the plasma- on the wall it's too high, if I use a plasma stand it will be in front of the fire, but if there's a slot cut into the floor and it raises up it may work. Having the center speaker below the plasma screen as well.

Possible and price involved?

Maybe put it on an arm above the fire then extend it out and down when watching and then back up when switched off?

I can't imagine you'd be able to chase it out a concrete floor, as you'd effectively be digging over 1m (height of TV) for most large plasmas, digging thru foundations and potentially your damp proof course...

If anything would be better to chase into the walls and cover with shuttering /cabinets? (if you have thick blockwork or standard cabinets).

I'm no builder just my thoughts

Anything is possible if you have enough money. But none of us have enough money for the amount of work it would take.

Surely in your ‘typical living room’ the TV goes on the wall opposite the sofa? Why would you want it over the fireplace where you’d have to crane your neck to see it?!

This. It would have to be a fair size hole in order for said telly & the gubbings to lift it out. Plus you'd have to reinforce the walls so it wouldn't collapse & waterproof it too. If the hole had to be made too big which could effect the foundations, you'd have to get a survey done. Planning permission could be a factor too especially if the the building in question is listed.

I suppose with the cost of a lift, better to buy a projector & motorised screen.

This if you want big screen discreetly a projector and screen hidden in the ceiling is going to be a lot cheaper then just stick a small flat screen in the corner for when you only want 'background' TV

Buy 2 flats or move the living room upstairs and have it come from the bottom floor!!!

Definitely get a projector as it will be a much easier option
