Plasma panels - who makes them?

My mate reckons they're pretty much all made by Samsung. Is this true?

Pretty sure that both Panasonic (Matsushita), and Pioneer manufacture panels inhouse. Panasonic for sure are one of the leading 'researchers' into plasma panels. (See their new 42inch 1920x1080 progressive plasma panels)

LG are definatly a panal manufacturer, and Hitachi make the 1080i ALiS panels.

Also CPT and Formosa but have no clue who get's their panels.

I'm sure Pioneer now use NEC panels panels hence the drop from 43" to 42", could be wrong though

Kinda right. Pioneer bought NEC's plasma manufacturing division. New pioneer panels are made in the NEC factories. NEC panels have increased resolution at 50 inch, and yes they dont make a 43, only a 42.

Thanks for correcting me, I read about it a while ago and couldn't remember the details about it. NEC do make some good panels though
