Plasma TV in front of a window - Bad idea?

Hi guys,

Because i've got a terrible view from my window (it's a pretty large one) and because I get ridiculous glare even if it's not sunny, I was thinking of putting my TV in front of the window?

Silly question, but will this cause it to overheat if it's summer time? Is there any problems with the back of the TV being exposed to the sun for long periods of time? (A few circuit boards etc are visible on the back of the tv through vented panels etc)

Any help would be great, don't fancy it melting on me any time soon! ;)

The plastic on the TV will fade very quickly.
It could overheat too, but the main problem is that in front of a window on a sunny day will make the picture hard to see as your eyes adjust to the bright light.

I have my 65" Kuro in front of a window and have never had an issue.... although I have shutters (always closed) and the panel also has fans built in!

The fact that plasma is now dead production wise and LCD cannot match it in the PQ department means I personally would try to avoid exposing it to direct heat/sunlight, etc.

I don't want it to die prematurely and before a flagship OLED hit's <£1K for 60".

I personally wouldn't worry about plastic fading, etc I'd be more worried about the heat. Even though it has fans it's not advisable to expose it to direct sunlight. Why take the risk if you can avoid it?

It's perfect having it in the window if you're avoiding the tv license goons. They can't catch and take photographic evidence of you watching live tv :p
