Plastic melted, whats a comparable card?

if an x700se was ok before then any 3000 series ati would be equal or better in games and as they also decode HD and other video in hardware (not every one plays just games) they have other advantages.

lots of the other cards suggested benchmark better in games only, choice will depend on the emphasis games or other facilites

 at that pic! It's well and truely ******! To echo everyone else, I'd say a 2nd hand 7600GT or a cheap ATI 3000 card.
The X700se was a nasty card and all cheap cards out at the moment should better it.

lmao @ meltdown :D

There are a shed load of previous gen ATI Cards on the bay going for peanuts.

Saw an X1900XTX go for £28 this afternoon.

This time, tell him to clean it out a bit more hehe the fan prob, got stuck up in the dust and then the heat kicked in.

Agreed, most cards will be better at that price range.

Including del?

I bought one for 37 including del the other day from a guy on here. The card is practically new though.

Oh and for the record. The same thing happened to my brothers card with the exact same fan/heatsink on that card. His used to make a hell of a racket and then eventually the fan part fell off after completely melting the same way as what has happened there.

Bad design me thinks :p

I found a picture of when the exact same thing happened to my brothers card. 9550 I think with the same design.

He still uses it without the fan to this day. The card must be about 4 years old now or something :p

Don't you just love it how the design of the heatsink/fan means dust is spewed all over the card eventually heating up and melting the fan off. I think that ranks as one of ATi's worst/dangerous designs of all time :D
