Is it just me, or is there no atmosphere at the parade and hardly anyone there

Do you mean the crowd or the people taking part?

The crowds do seem a bit sparse yeah but it could be specific areas not accessible to the public due to safety and the sheer volume of people taking part in the parade.

It also started by Big Ben so its a long route.

It must be awful knowing that you've got a camera watching you continuously (as in the Royals in their seats).

On the occasional shot of further down the Mall you can see it’s absolutely heaving, a friend of mine is on Birdcage Walk and she said that’s the same. There are fewer people at the Palace end behind the barriers because that’s not where they’re allowed to be.

It’s very full. There are a lot of people there.

I thought those ribbons were clever, the way they went up to a vanishing point made them look like they stretched all the way down to Admiralty Arch when they first appeared.

Kind of on the fence with all this over the top celebrations - I don't dislike the queen as a person, but she is just that, a person.

While I like to see communities getting together and not sitting behind a screen, which is refreshing to see people gather again and be human, the reason behind the whole thing just doesn't sit right with me, its distasteful & irritates me, a nauseating feeling.

It all feels abit nationalistic, its grim to see so many English flags everywhere, & more recently I have become fascinated with history, and the long and short of it is, the royals are only royal because their ancestors killed & abused countless people, so many millions have died in history because of the royal family or the clans of warriors that led to a royal family being formed - it's wealth only comes from crimes against humanity - which sounds alarming, but it's true, of course back then it was more of a literal 'dog eat dog' world, now its done via capitalism & money.

So, yes, its lovely to see the working class gather & talk to each other on a human level, I very much enjoy that - but to celebrate a person who is only that person due to inheritance & having a lot of money and land stolen from other individuals over the past 2000 years.......it's all abit weird isn't it ? Humans are strange folk.

My current fascination in history is around king Alfreds time (following watching the last kingdom), how him, and his men, killed other challenging armies - humans like to think they are evolved, they are not, all this pomp & circumstance is because great great great great great great grandad had the biggest stick & killed anyone trying to take what they had.

I don't feel humanity can move forward until we realise we are all equal, but the world is setup to not be equal, nor is it setup to encourage helping each other - while humans exist that see themselves 'above' others, many other basics of an enlightened society can't fall in to place.

However, enjoy the community celebrations & coming together, because ironically, thats a little anti-establishment; if only the many would unite on other fronts.

Explained in my post as a whole - further to that, with the UK going down the pan in the past 5 years, it now represents decisive failure & now the modern times of the cost of living, further abuse of the poor, further abuse of capitalistic gains - (for example a doubling of energy costs where as in the EU its 5%), the uk is trying its hardest to make the rich richer, which in the context of my original post means, the people with the biggest stick, are abusing the people even more now - as I said, we all need to come together, not celebrate gross greed.

You didn't explain why the flag makes you sick and as for EU energy costs, no that is flat out wrong. Maybe you were referring to France who forced a cap in an election year. Your argument seems to be UK bad / EU good and is not based in fact. Don't want to sour this thread with this rubbish anyway tbh.

If we did not have the Queen as our head of state, every four or five years we would have to elect another grey politician from the ranks of those who've left the House of Commons voluntarily or otherwise. A kind of super mayor who would forever be in competition with parliament for powers.

Better the devil we know and mostly like. Luckily it is very unlikely that I would see a republican Britain and I am extremely glad. God save the Queen. :p

I did, as I said, I explained in my original post, why it doesn't sit right with me, makes me feel unwell seeing it - it feels like dodgy branding! lol

Just what people did to get the uk to where it is today, and just how people in need are ignored - as the saying goes, we wouldn't need charity or 'children in need' nights (another great british 'tradition') - if we stopped billionaires getting away with taking so much from so many people - the queen is a billionaire & she makes her own laws, well, to clarify the crown has opted out of so many helpful laws & kept some backwards ones, or ones that benefit them.

The flag to me, is represented by the royal family.

As I said, as an individual human being she seems a nice person, but she's also not changed the world for the benefit of all humanity and the planet in her time, she could have solved world hunger for example, with her influence and money - it seems a wasted opportunity not to have tried.
