So I've not done any running for a few years but I'm reasonably fit and do a lot of hiking etc.
I want to get some motivation to get fitter and have been interested in doing a fell running event for a while. I'm looking at booking myself into an event in early may next year.
Now, with 3 evening weekly training, realistically what would I be able to achieve in 6 months? I can't decide if I should book the 10k or go hard and go for the half marathon. What do you super experience guys think?

For now I'm going to increase distance slowly while keeping my runs to twice a week, and then in Jan/Feb see where I am and ramp it up then with a proper plan like you linked.
