Play and charge kit died ?

Yes I have exactly this, in my case it's not the play & charge kit that's faulty, it's the pad itself.

I have to use my spare pad to charge the batteries, if I plug the lead in then the light stays green and I can play with it, it just doesn't actually charge it up.
 
I had a problem where my battery wouldn't charge using the play and charge lead. So I bought the quick charge kit and the batttery charges fine. So now I have two rechargeable batteries as you get one with the quick charge kit.

Definately worth buying.
