I can’t with all the trying in the world get DTS to work with .mkv HD files, can anyone help?

I’ve got a standalone AV amp which is capably of decoding DTS, and I can get DTS from PowerDVD 7.3 and DVD’s (so the system is able to passthrough). However, .mkv files are played in DD 5.1 (not bad but I want DTS!).

My system is in the sig. And I use a optical cable to connect to the AV amp.

I’ve got ffdshaw installed and Haali Media Splitter. Is there something simple I’m missing?

Cheers

dts will only play if the .mkv file does actually contain a dts track. so unless you encoded it yourself, that isnt likely due to the resulting filesize. Quite fortunate if you get 5.1 tracks in downloaded .mkv/.avi

I'd say it was down to there being no DTS track in the MKV file, I've got a DD 5.1 A/V amp, and I've found a lot of my HD MKVs do have DD 5.1 tracks in them, and they play fine.

The videos all claim to be DTS, but I’ve only every got DD 5.1 out of them, maybe your right and there just isn’t a DTS track there...
