I was at Autosport International at the NEC today, and I got the chance to have a play on a PS3 on the Stuff stand.
On the Stand, there were 3 PS3s running 3 separate games. The first was F1, the second GTHD and the third Motorstorm. All were running on large LCD TVs at 720p.
I only got to play the Motorstorm demo, but it wasn't really a bad game, but the controls did feel a little clumsy, however it does feel like it could be a great fun game to have with mates with all the physics going on and damage etc.
The controller to me didn't feel too bad, however I really do miss the rumble there, and the lack of it makes the controller feel TOO light, and nearly cheap. I didn't get a chance to try any of the tilt / motion stuff, so I can't comment on that. The R2/L2 triggers didn't too bad, I thought they were going to feel wrong, but they worked nicely to me.
Overall, I will say that I was quite underwhelmed by the console. Each game looked good, but nothing looked spectacular. F1 and GTHD had nice solid smooth high framerates, and Motorstorm probably was the best overall looking game of the three, but they all looked like they were missing some final finishing touches that make them look special. I did notice a couple of small slowdowns on Motorstorm also, but for the rest of the time it ran nice and smooth.
So coming from an Xbox 360, it was nothing new to me, and everything was either on par or below that of what I have seen on the 360, but the 360 does have the advantage of more games and being out for well over a year. Two of the people with me today said they weren't very impressed by the looks of it, and one hadn't even seen what a PS3 looks like before.
The PS3 sure has potential, ther's no doubt about it. Just to make me want to buy one, it's going to need a lot more titles that I will personally want. I'm sure there's loads of titles that people will buy a PS3 for, however I'm a little bit more picky I think and I want more than just MGS4 to make me want one.
Sorry for a new thread, so Yewen if you want it in the main PS3 thread, give it a merge
