Jobs worth ref, really

He should have started booking players as they surrounded him. Correct or not, he's the referee and surrounding and trying to pressure or remonstrate with him is dissent.

I used to work right next to that stadium, could see half the pitch from my office! now all I can see are corrugated iron roofs!

the guy was trespassing as such, but i dont think the footballer is allowed to do anything to him, unless its his home ground, being an employee of the company so to speak and their is an intruder on their property. if he is playing away then its assault. he should have let the security deal with him.

this is what happens when you abide by the law fully and dont use common sense. the referee was either scared he would lose his job or be scrutinized or he has no common sense (not street smart).

Followed the rules of the game, but a bit of common sense should have prevailed here. When the opposition team is pleading with you not to send him off, you really don't need to send him off.

Although thinking about the referee following the rules of the game, surely that is referring more to acts of violence against the crowd? It looked like that intruder had been on the pitch quite some time and the frustration within the crowd and players must have been high.

Ahaha epic :p

It was more of a rugby tackle than anything though :p Was probably sent off for violent behavior - He should have just let the officials take him out.
